Actions Against Pylons SB supports climate action but believes in a fair and democratic transition, not one that sacrifices rural areas for the convenience of developers and distant policy makers. Actions Against Pylons SB is asking Community Councils (CCs) to consider taking the following actions:
1. Pass a motion of formal opposition to the SPEN Cross Border Connection and related infrastructure
2. Write to SBC asking them to adopt a Highland-style motion* demanding better mapping, consultation and community protections
3. Join with other CCs across the Borders to present a united voice demanding local control over our future
As Community Councillors representing Lilliesleaf, Ashkirk and Midlem CC (LAMCC) we are sympathetic to the views of Action Against Pylons SB and we have signed up to be part of the network of CCs presenting a united voice. However, before acting on actions 1 and 2 above we want to seek views of people living in our communities to try to ensure that we are representing the opinions of those we represent.
We would be very grateful, if you can post any comments on this post on the
LAMCC Facebook page
or
send your comments in an email clearly titled – Cross Border Connection views –
